Dr. Beth Lennox completed her Bachelor of Science in 1991 and continued at the University of Waterloo, obtaining her Doctorate of Optometry in 1995. She graduated on the Dean’s Honour List and received the Canadian Contact Lens Society award for her proficiency in contact lens application. Dr. Lennox completed an externship at Houston Eye Associates, where she worked with several retinal and glaucoma specialists. 

After graduating, Dr. Lennox entered private practice in Brantford and moved to the Cambridge practice in 1998. She is affiliated with the TLC Laser Eye Centres and has substantial co-management experience in laser vision correction. She has also been a part-time clinical supervisor at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science and is the past chair of the board of directors for Eye Recommend.

In her spare time, Dr. Lennox enjoys time with her husband, Peter, and their 2 sons. She loves travel, yoga, and pickleball!

Dr. Amanda Brown was raised on a beef farm in the Cambridge area. She attended the University of Waterloo and graduated with Honours in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science and a Doctorate of Optometry. She completed an externship in ocular disease and therapeutics at Vision America in Memphis, Tennessee, where she became skilled in treating and managing glaucoma, diabetes, and laser refractive surgery patients.

After graduation, Dr. Brown was pleased to be able to stay in the Cambridge area and join Dr. Lennox at the original Elgin Street location. In 2012, she became a partner in what is now known as Cambridge Eye Care. Dr. Brown is also an active member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists, Ontario Association of Optometrists, Eye Recommend, and is the treasurer for the Waterloo-Wellington and District Optometric Society. She also enjoys working with local ophthalmologists to provide sustainable co-managed vision care in the Cambridge area.

Outside of work, you can find Dr. Brown involved in a community event, cheering her two kids on at an arena, or helping her husband, Steve, on the farm.

Dr. Sarah Schaffels graduated from the University of Waterloo with her Bachelor of Science and Doctorate of Optometry in June 2010. She was named to the Dean’s Honours List each term and received the AW Cole Award for Clinical Excellence at graduation. 

During her studies, Dr. Schaffels completed an externship in ocular disease and therapeutics at the John Kenyon American Eye Institute, giving her hands-on experience working with 5 ophthalmologists and 2 optometrists, with specialties including cornea, cataracts, refractive surgery, glaucoma, and retina.

Outside of the clinic, Dr Schaffels enjoys life as a proud hockey mom, spending time on the slopes with her family, and supporting her husband’s passion for general aviation.

Dr. Kaylee Wood grew up in Cambridge, Ontario. She earned her Bachelor of Biomedical Science with Honours in 2011 and her Doctor of Optometry with Honours in 2015 from the University of Waterloo. She was awarded the AOF Award of Excellence for Contact Lens Patient Care. As well, she is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and has a special interest in dry eye, pediatrics, and contact lenses.

Dr. Wood is passionate about community involvement and is a former president of the Volunteer Optometric Services of Ontario. She is also a former member of the Cambridge (Preston-Hespeler) Rotary Club. She is the 2013 recipient of the Roland and Margaret des Groseilliers Humanitarian Award. 

Currently, Dr. Wood is an active member of the eye care team for Indigenous Children’s Eye Exams (ICEE), an organization that provides vision and ocular health services to children in remote communities in Northern Ontario.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Wood enjoys playing ball hockey, travelling, and spending time at the cottage with her husband and two boys.

Dr. Alex Farquhar was born and raised in Midland, Ontario. Upon graduating, Dr. Farquhar received the Canadian Association of Optometrists Award of Merit for her contributions as a student leader, and the Dr. Karen Tompa Nowy Memorial Award for her commitment to patient care. She is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists. She is proud to be a part of the Cambridge Eye Care team.

When she is outside the clinic, Dr. Farquhar can be found exploring Waterloo Region with her husband and two boys, drinking tea with her cat, or enjoying time on Georgian Bay with her family.

Dr. April Hall was born in Stephenville, NL and grew up in Cambridge, Ontario. She received her Bachelor of Science from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2016 and graduated with a Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Waterloo in 2020. She was named to the Dean’s Honours List each term and received the Lyle/Fisher/Bobier award for demonstrating academic excellence and engaging in summer research at the School of Optometry and Vision Science. One of the highlights of her time spent as a student was travelling to Senegal, Africa and Montego Bay, Jamaica, to provide eye care to those in need. She is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and has a special interest in ocular disease, dry eye, and contact lenses.

When she is not at the clinic, Dr. Hall can be found hiking local trails with her husband, baking, golfing, or spending time with her family and friends!

Becky joined the Cambridge Eye Care team in February 2017. She is our front desk and office coordinator. Becky has 16 years of experience working in customer service and the beauty industry. In her spare time, she enjoys crafts and decorating, as well as spending quality time with her friends and family.

Jenn has been a valuable part of the Cambridge Eye Care family since 2014 and has over 17 years of experience in the eyecare field. Jenn completed the Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant program in 2015. She specializes in frame selection & glasses fabrication and will ensure your new glasses are both functional as well as fashionable. In 2022, Jenn took on a new role and is excelling as the team leader for our lab and frame gallery team.

When not at work, Jenn is busy with her two teenage children and their busy schedules. Jenn is also a big Friends fan and loves to binge-watch Netflix series. She enjoys spending quality time with her family and close friends.

Ashley joined the Cambridge Eye Care team in June 2021, where she started at the front desk. After completing her Certified Optometric Assistant training, she transitioned to our lab and frame gallery, where she now spends most of her time.

Ashley is passionate about patient care and is dedicated to helping others look and feel their best. She has also been a Certified Medical Aesthetician since 2014, and has expanded her expertise into providing advanced dry eye treatments, including radiofrequency and intense pulsed light therapy in our Dry Eye Clinic.

In her spare time, Ashley enjoys reading, writing, exploring antique shops, and spending time with friends and family.

Maralisa has been part of the team at Cambridge Eye Care since 2009 and, in 2011, completed her CCOA course. With 30 years of experience in both cosmetics and fashion, she loves the challenge of finding the perfect frame for you. She believes in the importance of great customer service and has a passion for fashion.

Outside of her time at the office, she enjoys spending time outdoors as well as with her husband and 3 children.

Nancy has been a member of our team since 2014. She specializes in frame selection and glasses fabrication and can help make your new glasses both functional and fashionable.

In Nancy’s spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, playing the guitar and Muay Thai kickboxing.

Natasha joined our team in November 2020, where she started at the front desk, greeting everyone with a smile. In June 2022, Natasha completed the Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant (CCOA) program and transitioned into the lab and frame gallery by 2024. 

Natasha enjoys assisting patients in selecting their new eyewear, helping them find frames that are both functional and stylish. She is also one of our trained ocular hygienists and is happy to help our patients with their dry eye treatments.

In her spare time, Natasha enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Christine joined our team in 2022. She will always greet you with a smile and a friendly hello. Christine enjoys assisting patients at the front desk, pretest, with contact lenses or training. Christine has many years of experience as a PSW and understands the importance of personalized patient care.

When Christine is not at work, she enjoys tending to her gardens and spending time with her husband and 2 boys.

Trena joined us in December 2017. She is a front desk receptionist who brings over 25 years of customer service experience within the airline, restaurant, and retail industries. Trena is a busy mom of 3 who enjoys hiking, cycling, and spending time with family.

Amanda joined the Cambridge Eye Care team in 2022.  As a front desk receptionist and pretester, Amanda will greet you with a warm smile and friendly hello.  If you need a referral to a specialist, Amanda takes great care in providing you with the appointment and information that you need.  In her spare time, Amanda enjoys reading, watching movies, listening to music and spending time with family.

Terri joined our team in January 2024, starting her journey at the front desk. She expanded her skills and completed both her Certified Optometric Assistant and Ocular Hygienist programs, transitioning to our lab and frame gallery. Terri is known for her positivity, kindness, and dedication to patients, whether she’s helping pick out their next pair of glasses or instructing patients on how to wear contact lenses for the first time.

Terri’s experience in the education system has given her a special interest in myopia management, and she is one of our Myopia Control Champions. She takes great pride in providing excellent care and support to all our patients.Outside of the clinic, Terri enjoys reading, hiking, volunteering, and spending time with her husband, their four busy kids, and the family pets.

Sydney joined our team in July 2024, shortly after completing her Bachelor of Science at the University of Waterloo. As an optometric assistant, she enjoys working closely with patients, and her fellow team members, to make each patient visit as comfortable and informative as possible. Outside of work, Sydney likes to read, be outdoors, and spend time with family.

Solen joined Cambridge Eye Care in March 2023, after graduating from the Medical Office Administration program at Trios College. As a Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant, she enjoys supporting patients throughout their eye care journey and helping the clinic run smoothly. Friendly and approachable, Solen is dedicated to making every visit a positive experience.

Devin joined our team in 2025 after completing her degree at the University of Guelph.  She brings great customer service and retail experience, and is eager to provide the best patient experience possible.

Holly is a graduate of the Honours Bachelor of Environmental Studies program at the University of Waterloo. She has extensive customer service experience and has found her passion for helping others during her time at Cambridge Eye Care. Holly is currently enrolled in the Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant program and is a strong health and wellness advocate who hopes to continue her learning journey in this exciting field. In her spare time, Holly can be found with her husband and their cat and two Australian Shepherds. She also enjoys going to the beach and volunteering to give back to her community.
